Core Materials and Processes of TPH PPF Film

Substrate upgrade: Adding plasticizers and elastomers to traditional PVC to enhance flexibility (TPH=Thermoplastic Polyolefin Hybrid).
Coating technology: The factory adopts “precision coating and wiring” composite:
Top coating: anti fouling/self-healing (activated at 60 ℃)
Adhesive layer: Low adhesive residue design to avoid paint damage
Thickness range: commonly 6-8mil (0.15-0.2mm), balancing protection and construction difficulty.
Raw material quality inspection: PVC particle purity>99%, eliminating impurities particles (affecting transparency).
Co extrusion extension: The three-layer structure is formed in one go, with a thickness error controlled within ± 0.02mm.

Proper cleaning and maintenance of TPH PPF
1. Daily cleaning (weekly/after rain)
Rinse pre-treatment:
First, use low-pressure water flow to wash away the surface gravel (high-pressure water gun is easy to wash away the edge warping film).
Neutral cleaning agent cleaning:
Dilute with PH7 neutral car wash solution (such as Chemical Boy, Micron) and gently wipe in circles with microfiber gloves.
Prohibited: cleaning wax, glass water, acidic and alkaline solvents (corrosive coatings)
Drying technique:
Gently press and dry the absorbent towel in the same direction (do not rub back and forth).
2. Long term maintenance enhancement (every 3 months)
Surface sealing care:
Apply PPF specific sealant (such as XPEL FLUX) to enhance hydrophobicity and stain resistance.
Function: Delay yellowing and enhance self-healing effect
Prohibit car wax/crystal plating (containing petroleum fractions, accelerating aging)
Self healing activation:
In summer, expose to sunlight or water at 60 ℃ (do not use a heat gun) to repair shallow scratches.

1. After 1-2 years and 6 months, the dyed film will significantly fade, bubble, and have a light transmittance of less than 70% or bubbles of more than 30%,
2. The oxidation of the metal layer in the metal magnetron film for 3-5 years leads to a 40% decrease in insulation and an infrared barrier rate of less than 50%,
3. After 7-10 years and 5 years, the nano ceramic film will slightly turn yellow (Δ YI<2) and the UV barrier will be less than 95%,
4. Top grade TPU film for 10 years+surface scratches can self repair adhesive layer delamination (<5% probability)
Color TPU PPF achieves rich colors through three-layer co extrusion dyeing process:
The substrate color embedding technology melts mineral pigments into TPU molecular chains, creating a deep metallic flowing light like black pearls or a satin texture like beet purple, ensuring color durability without fading;
Optical interference coating combined with nano reflective layer enables the color scheme of auroral green and other chameleon colors to change into a blue purple gradient with the angle of light;
The surface micro carving treatment gives a matte limestone like frosted texture, while reducing reflection by 90%.
The optional color gamut covers classic metallic colors (Champagne Gold/Electric Silver), natural inspired colors (Neptune Blue/Magma Red), and iridescent color schemes (Neon Purple Gold), meeting the needs of all scenarios from low-key business to dazzling track colors. 1. TPU PPF material
As a top-level protection solution, it uses thermoplastic polyurethane substrate, which is characterized by the fusion of scratch self-healing function and impact toughness. The surface nano coating provides super hydrophobicity (contact angle>110 °), and there is zero residue when the bottom pressure-sensitive adhesive is removed. Its optical grade transparency or color embedding technology (such as aurora color changing effect) combines aesthetics and protection, with a service life of 5-10 years. The market price is around $1000-3000 (full car), with high-end brands such as XPEL being more expensive.
2. PET material for car film
Essentially, it is an upgraded version of polyester film, thinner and more flexible than PVC. The core advantage lies in the precision of color reproduction, especially for metallic/pearl colors that appear evenly without any blemishes. But the protective performance is weak, only able to prevent daily stains and basic ultraviolet rays, without self-healing ability and poor scratch resistance. The service life is about 2-3 years, and the edges may still become brittle after exposure to sunlight. The price range is 400-800 US dollars, suitable for users who pursue short-term color changing effects and have a good driving environment.
3. TPH PPF material
It is actually an improved version of PVC (a mixture of plasticizer and polyurethane), often promoted by manufacturers as having "TPU like performance". It has better flexibility than PVC and can partially achieve edge wrapping construction, but its chemical stability is insufficient: the precipitation of plasticizer can cause the adhesive layer to fail after one year (with a curling rate of up to 30%), and it is prone to hardening and cracking at low temperatures. The self-healing function is incomplete (requiring a high temperature of 70 ℃ or above), and the ability to resist yellowing is weak. The price ranges from $555 to $1100, with a lifespan of about 2-4 years, and the long-term cost-effectiveness is lower than TPU.
4. PVC material for wrap film
The most basic polyvinyl chloride film has the advantages of affordable price ($138-555 for the entire car) and rich colors (from solid colors to cartoon patterns). But the material is hard and brittle, requiring multiple pieces to be spliced during construction, and the edges are prone to dust accumulation and warping. Extremely weak protection: no weather resistance (severe fading after 1-2 years), not scratch resistant, prone to powdering after UV irradiation. There is a high probability of leaving adhesive and damaging the car paint when tearing off the film, which is suitable for budget users who only need 1-2 years for short-term color changes.
